Health & Safety
RHC DESIGN-BUILD is committed to a full Health & Safety Program. It forms part of our TQM system.
Safety is a behavior that must become as routine as getting dressed everyday. Training, encouragement and supervisory direction all contribute to the ease of sub-conscious safety thinking. This is accomplished through six key elements applied to every project:
- Education and Awareness
- All RHC personnel complete H&S training and site safety orientation.
- Designated Certified Representatives
- RHC has a health and safety department headed by a full time manager who ensures proper training of staff and trade partners.
- Orientation and Tracking
- RHC requires all trades/vendors and project team members to complete a job site. H&S orientation session before attending the project site.
- The orientation process is documented and monitored to achieve two objectives:
- Proper introduction to RHC H&S policies and procedures and
- Timely reviews and updates of H&S policies and procedures.
- Field Meetings
- Regularly scheduled H&S site meetings. All RHC project sites implement a minimum bi-weekly schedule for a dedicated H&S meeting, attendance is mandatory.
- Lunch box meetings are required of all trade groups with minutes submitted to RHC personnel on a weekly basis.
- Field review and 3rd Party Audits
- RHC’s H&S manager performs independent, un-scheduled field reviews monthly and issues a written report to project staff and RHC executive.
- RHC engages 3rd party firms for periodic site reviews through construction.
- Enforcement though established guidelines and standardized methodology
- RHC adheres to clearly defined processes and methodology to ensure maintenance of a clean and safe job site.
- Health and Safety forms one of the key disciplines of the RHC TQM system with responsibilities clearly defined and assigned.
- RHC has a comprehensive written Health and Safety manual which is regularly reviewed and updated by Reid’s Heritage Homes Health and Safety Manager.
