ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
This position will report to the Department Manager and provide administrative support to the Project Management team. The administrative responsibilities will involve typing project minutes and correspondence, communication administration, document processing and project filing, arranging meetings, searching the internet for public tenders, maintaining and updating of equipment log and purchases. The accounts payable responsibilities will include receiving all commercial invoices, stamping and verifying payment dates and distribution to the Project Coordinators for coding and to Accounts Payable at Head Office for cheque processing.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years related administrative experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Commercial construction knowledge an asset

CARPENTER
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Carpenter will be an integral part of the site construction team. The Carpenter is expected to work in a collaborative manner with all members of the construction team, RHC personnel, trades and suppliers. The Carpenter is to support RHC systems and procedures through proper conduct on site. The Carpenter will exhibit maturity and self discipline while carrying out assigned duties and tasks including but not limited to:
- Rough carpentry (i.e. framing, backing, bulkheads, repairs).
- Millwork installation and repair (hanging doors, installation of hardware, trim and build-outs).
- Repairs and finishing to fire assemblies finish assemblies (drywall detailing, sealants, fire caulking, and fire stopping).
- Assist with layout work for footings, foundation walls, and partition lay-outs.
- Carry out general construction duties to prepare for transitions in work between trades.
- Carry out finishing work for interior assemblies (i.e. ceiling grids, partitions, doors/frames, and conduit).
- Provide support functions to Site Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor as required.
- Participate in Health and Safety enforcement, education, and practice.
- Communicate with construction team in a clear and concise manner.
- Have a working knowledge of blueprint reading.
- Be computer literate (MS Outlook™, drawing plan readers, spreadsheets, word processor).
- Keep accurate and detailed timesheets and document issues that arise and forward to Supervisor.
- Open and/or close job sites ensuring sites are safe and secure.

PROJECT COORDINATOR
Reporting to the Department Manager and working as part of the Project Management team, responsibilities will include quantity take-offs and estimating to assist in generating project budgets and processing of project information flow. In this role, you will assist the Project Manager to guide commercial construction projects from design through to completion and occupancy. Commercial projects range from wood frame, reinforced concrete and structural steel.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years experience in commercial estimating and project coordination
- A proven knowledge of all stages of a design-build project

ESTIMATOR
The estimator position has a great potential for long term growth at RHC. Reporting to the president, you will be responsible for developing estimates and budgets for hard bid, design/build and construction management proposals. You spend time working both independently and as part of a team. Tasks will include quantity take offs, sub trade/supplier tender packages, risk assessment and working with project managers to draft preliminary project schedules. On successful bids, you will be part of the project turnover meetings helping with efficient and successful project buy-out to ensure smooth transitions into the construction phase. As part of the estimating team you will work to keep the trade and supplier database current and constantly strive to expand and enhance its performance.
In this role you will have the opportunity to work with RHC construction management team members, consultants, clients as well as trades and suppliers.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of estimating experience in ICI sectors
- Familiarity and understanding of construction contracts and scheduling and all phases of a construction project

PROJECT MANAGER
Reporting to the Department Manager, the Project Manager will function as a team leader accustomed to guiding a project from preliminary design through to completion of construction, build the project team including design consultants, estimators, coordinators, field personnel, trades and suppliers working to ensure proper technical resources are applied to the project; participate and ensure management of communication across the entire project team including all stakeholders. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing preparation and controlling of design, budgets and schedules from conceptual stages through construction stages; ensuring complete input and participation of the project team thereby meeting deadlines and performance criteria and managing expectations of stakeholders; review and assess methods and assemblies to maximize performance and budget. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to draw on extensive experience in all aspects of a commercial construction project's life cycle and will be accustomed to working with all project stakeholders.

SITE SUPERVISOR
Reporting to the Project Manager the Supervisor will be the team leader on the construction site working to ensure that the project is carried out on schedule, on budget and meets or exceeds the quality standards set by the project documents. The supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day schedule as well as working with the Project Manger to monitor and maintain the overall project schedule, budget and quality. The Supervisor will supervise, coordinate, and plan site personnel activities as well as sub-trades and other contractors. Includes assisting in determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked. Maintain daily site log documenting work progress, deficiencies, and follow-up action required. Ensure complete and up to date project documents (drawings, specifications, change notices etc) are maintained on site at all times, confirm site personnel and sub trades are working with most current documentation.
Maintain liaison with Project Manager’s office, consultants and authorities to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications and local codes. Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required. Monitor site personnel and sub trade compliance with health and safety requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented. Ensure all required inspections, materials, equipment etc., and support personnel activities are coordinated with project schedule. Perform additional assignments per Project Manager’s direction. Communicate problems and information requests efficiently to avoid schedule disruption and unplanned costs.
This position requires:
- Minimum 8-10 years of supervisory experience in ICI projects
- A proven knowledge of construction technology, documentation, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures
- Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, quality control, and excellent ability to supervise and direct large groups of trades and personnel
- Strong knowledge of construction site operations including Occupational Health and Safety compliance;

PRODUCTION COORDINATOR
The purpose of this position is to provide production and support in the areas of drafting, estimating and equipment inventory management. This position will provide a diverse range of working experience that can lead to opportunities for advancement in estimating, construction management, procurement and design-build.
Responsibilities will include: working with the Estimator in budget preparations for construction management and design-build projects, as well as bid to spec estimates; carrying out drafting assignments under the guidance of Director of Design and at the request of Project Managers; and management of site equipment inventory.
Estimating - Tendering/Pricing:
- Attend pre-tender site visits
- Assemble and distribute bid documents for trade / supplier bidding
- Prepare bidders invitations and monitor feedback from trades
- Document distribution and tracking, monitor submission deadlines, process bids
- Complete labour & materials take-offs
- Prepare draft project schedules on MS Project under direction of PM’s
- Prepare turnover summaries for successful tenders
- Provide estimating support to construction teams with additional trade/supplier pricing
- Prepare analysis of successful bids to assess unit rate costs, tracking costs by date, trade and region
- Maintain and expand RHC trade and supplier database, update unit costs and performance ratings
- Develop understanding of square footage and other unit cost rates for building types, construction assemblies and construction methods
- Archive unsuccessful bids by preparing summary of project, including competitors’ bids, commentary, and unit cost breakdown
Drafting:
- Drafting work under direction of the Director of Design and/or Project Managers
- Work with Director of Design during preliminary design development
- Dimension and/or detail checking for clarifications on drawings
- Maintain and expand standard CAD blocks library
Inventory:
- Maintain inventory/equipment database and track equipment locations
- Ensure regular maintenance is scheduled and completed
- Track all repairs and equipment issues
- Process cost recoveries from projects
Other:
- Maintenance and organization of reference library
- Other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the President, Director of Design and as required by the Project Managers from time to time
- Assist other team members with overflow workloads as may be required from time to time

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Technology Degree or equivalent experience and knowledge, with 1-3 years work experience in similar role

- Working knowledge of MS Project and MS Access would be an asset

SITE LABOURER
The role of Site Labourer is to safely construct projects which meet the high standards of quality set by the company. In all activities and tasks undertaken, the Site Labourer strives to provide the best client experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare building for next trade as required; including cutting concrete, covering floors, scraping floors
- On a daily basis, collect and dispose of debris at construction site placing it in appropriate designated places, while ensuring compliance with waste recycling programs
- Assist with cleaning and fine grading for concrete pours
- Set up, maintenance and tear down of hoarding, fencing and safety rails
- Attendance at all site safety meetings
- Handling of tarps during winter construction and to protect on-going work from poor weather conditions
- Set up and maintenance of temporary heat equipment
- Ensure sites and work areas are clean and safe for the trades to work
- Advise Site Supervisor when to contact garbage company for delivery and exchange bins for interior and exterior cleaning
- Ensure availability of temporary heat for rough-in and finishing trades
- Shipping and Receiving logistics on site under direction of Site Supervisor
- Review, assess, and report any issues on safety to the Health & Safety Representative, or direct Supervisor; this includes ensuring protective gear used/worn
- Address any complaints or inquires by referring trades/suppliers/consultants to Site Supervisor or Project Manager
